What is siats meekorum?

Siats Meekorum is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period approximately 98 million years ago. Its fossils were discovered in the Cedar Mountain Formation of Utah, USA, by paleontologist Lindsey Zanno and her team in 2008. The name Siats Meekorum comes from the word "Siats" in the Ute Native American language, which means "huge monster," and the word "Meekorum" honors Randy and Karen Meek, who helped fund the excavation.

Siats Meekorum is estimated to have been about 9 meters long and weighed around 4 tons. It had large, sharp teeth and strong jaws that suggest it was a predator, possibly feeding on other dinosaurs of its time. This dinosaur was related to the allosaurids, such as Allosaurus, but had distinct characteristics, including a longer, more slender skull and longer arms.

Siats Meekorum is considered to be an important discovery because it fills a gap in the dinosaur fossil record of North America. It is one of the few known large predators from this region during the Late Cretaceous, and it provides insight into the evolution of theropod dinosaurs in this area.
